How to style the most serene bedroom for a restful sleep in 2021

Sleep is essential for our everyday life. Not having a restful sleep results in lack of concentration, a foul mood, and over a longer period of time, can cause serious health issues. And let’s face it, we’ve had enough if it last year!

We at Ginkgo Interiors consider the bedroom as one of the most important rooms in the house. It is our haven where we recharge after long and stressful days. Therefore, we pay close attention when it comes to styling our clients' bedrooms.

Here are our tips to style a bedroom that will make you never want to leave your bed.

Invest in good bedding!

Nothing screams more ‘luxurious sleep’ than high quality bed linen. Our personal favourites and biggest trendsetters in 2021 are natural fabrics such as linen and cotton (stone washed cotton we are looking at you!).

Be a softy

Bring some texture into your bed. Invest in large and super soft wool throws or shaggy runners and small rugs. Choose some large and soft cushions and play with colour and texture to create an interesting look for your bed. If you want to keep it simple, don't use too many cushions, this will create a more minimalistic vibe.

Be a trendsetter

Pantone revealed their colours of the year 2021 recently and their ‘illuminating’ yellow is definitely something we can get on board with when it comes to decoration. If you want to keep it more natural, choose a more earthy yellow, such as a darker turmeric yellow or maybe mustard. It pairs well with the other colour of the year (Yes, this year we deserved two!) which is ‘ultimate gray’. We love a beautiful grey bed linen set with yellow colour accents!

Stay down to earth

If you are less eclectic don’t worry: Earthy tones are still a thing in 2021. We always get inspired by the dark brown/read earth tones of the Australian Outback and love to pair it with more beige or terracotta tones. Match it with natural fabrics and a lot of texture and your ready for a nap! It pairs perfectly with some greenery, which brings us to our next tip:

Bring the outside in

Being in nature is good for our health. However, in larger cities you don’t always have the time to make a big trip and the city view is not always as green as we wish it would be. But don't worry! There are ways to bring that special outdoor feeling into your home. If you happen to be one of those lucky people with a view on a park or trees, change your window treatments. Instead of covering the view with sheer curtains, try framing the windows by enhancing the view with contrasting wall colours, wallpaper or thick and monochrome curtains in a botanical look. If your view just doesn’t do it, try to bring the greenery inside with your favourite indoor plants!

Keep it simple

We should start the year with a clean slate and a clean bedroom. Invest in good storage and organise your bedroom so it is clutter free. A more organised space will help you to wind down at the end of the day and cause less distraction. If you are completely renovating your bedroom, maybe think about investing into fitted furniture or a bed with integrated storage, which makes organising so much easier.

We wish you have a restful sleep in your new dream bedroom!

Best,

Martyna
