Add some greens to your space! Decorate your home with indoor plants.

There is no doubt that surrounding ourselves with nature and plants is good for our physical and mental health. Especially in our busy, and recently very confined city lives, bringing some green into our homes can do more that just look pretty. Plants have air purifying properties, create a more vivid space, can help us to sleep better , and even focus better during our countless home office hours.

Here are our favourite tips and trends on how to improve your home’s look by using our green friends.

Find some shade.

One trend that we have observed in the last years was definitely one we can get on board with: Trees and large plants! The larger the better. The good thing is, it can work for all kinds of rooms. In rooms with a lower ceiling, taller trees or tree-like plants can create a feeling of cosiness and visually increase the ceiling height. In large rooms or rooms with an exceptionally large ceiling, trees fill the space and make it feel less empty. Be careful with our all time favourite Fiddle Leaf Fig and the Olive Tree as these are no rookie plants! For a more beginner friendly tree we suggest a Rubber Tree or a Golden Cane Palm.

Use Nature's art.

Indoor plants can be a beautiful and inexpensive way to decorate your home. They come in a great variety of different sizes, colours and shapes and are mostly quite affordable. As with a piece of art, they can transform a space depending on where they are placed in a room. But always consider that they also require some thought in terms of placement. Corners and large empty walls are a great place for larger, more filling plants. Use plants to introduce pattern into more bland spaces when you want to add visual texture to a room, or organic shapes when you want to soften more geometrical and modern spaces.

Hang out a little.

One way to introduce height to rooms with lower ceilings are hanging plants! Pots and hangers vary in style and can look sleek or modern, or introduce a more bohemian vibe by using beautiful macramé hangers. Hanging plants can also be used as a room separator when you want to create different functional areas. Our all time favourite hanging plant is Devil's Ivy. It grows super fast, is easy to keep, and you can propagate it over and over again.

They like the crowds.

You can create repetition in your space by grouping plants. This can happen in a more clustered and chaotic way, by using different kinds of plants. It will look good together and make a room more vivid as if can create a more outdoor feeling in your home. Especially during a time when we have to stay at home more, this can be very soothing. Using small succulents and arranging them in a more regular way can create and exciting element in a room, and create a more modern look. Succulents are easy to propagate and their variety is endless. Mix them up and try to use a lot of different succulents.

Whatever you decide on doing, always remember to consider light and humidity conditions in a room so your green decoration can grow and bring you joy. Also, don't worry too much if you don't have a green thumb! These days there are a lot of great faux plant options out there!

Best,

Martyna
